Chapter 9 - What People are Supposed to Do
If you have a dispute with someone always try and make up as soon as you can.
It could be with your neighbour, work colleagues, family or friends and God knows there are plenty of them out there. While you could be sorry afterwards for what has happened, if you don't say it or make amends to rectify the situation, it will still be unaccounted for. It's so important to forgive wrongdoings committed against us and sometimes it's not easy. Jesus forgave His crucifiers
(Father forgive them, for they know not what they do).
Unforgiveness and bitterness are major problems with a lot of us and many souls have spent a long time in purgatory as a result. I am witness to this! If someone is dying or in danger of death, it's so important to put in as much prayer as possible for them for anything that may have affected them spiritually or temporarly in their lives. This is especially relevant to people who work in the caring or medical profession with old or sick people. If you come across a car accident where people are seriously injured or if someone collapses in the street, you should pray for them. Hand them over to the Lord to look after them and say an act of contrition for them. One prayer before a death is worth many prayers said after.
It is important to pray for deceased relatives and friends. Always pray for people who die suddenly, i.e. suicide, car accidents, sudden death or tragedy of any description e.g. earthquakes or any natural disasters. These people do not have their bags packed and are not ready to go……but remember…..they won't be lost!
Jealously is a big problem which is very prevalent in today's society. It is linked to the 10 commandments, “Thou shall not covet thy neighbours' goods”. It can happen in any workplace, hospital, school, among family, friends and communities. A jealous person can cause terrible harm and can go to a lot of rounds to create obstacles for the person they are jealous of. We can often be envious of other people's abilities or possessions. If you think someone is jealous of you, pray the prayer of protection on page 95 to block the effect from them and avoid sharing your business or personal details with them.
Go to confession regularly and try and keep your slate (your soul) clean!
(I say to you that even so, there will be joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 just who have no need of repentance: Luke 15: 7)
ttend Mass as regularly as possible, especially our Sunday Mass, in which we are bound to participate. The amount of time we spend in purgatory is shortened by the number of Masses we attend and amount of prayer said in our lifetime.
Recite your daily prayers and do charitable works. Each good work is accounted for against the wrong that you may have done.
The souls that we pray for today, will be us one day.
